In late August and early September 2001, we flew into Fairbanks for a little driving adventure. We rented a 4-wheel drive and drove 500 miles north on the Dalton Highway along the Trans alaska Pipeline to Dead Horse and the Prudhoe Bay oil complex on the arctic ocean. This was the first week of our trip. The second week, we went to Denali and stayed in the Hotel inside the park. (Interestingly, the Denali Park Hotel was demolished the week after we left according to park plans.) Both the trip to Prudhoe Bay and Denali were fantastic.
